Kevin Meyer has over twenty-five years of executive leadership experience, primarily in the medical device industry, with prior exposure to the telecom equipment, consumer lighting, and food processing industries. His background is in engineering and operations with a focus on lean manufacturing.
Kevin is currently President of Specialty Silicone Fabricators, a 400-person multi-site contract manufacturer of precision silicone components for the medical device industry. Over the past seven years he has led the lean transformation of the company, created focus by implementing a strategic planning and execution process, overhauled and improved the sales and marketing function, and expanded technological capabilities through a combination of organic and joint venture development.
Prior to his current position, Kevin founded and later sold Agilonics LLC, a niche electronics contract manufacturing company. Previously Kevin was Director of Operations for the Fiber Optics and Photonics Division of Newport Corporation where he took the hyper growth operation from $500k to $5M a month in output in under nine months using lean methods.
His decade of experience at Abbott Laboratories included Operations Manager for its largest injection molding operations in Salt Lake City, Business Unit Manager for the infusion pump operations in the Bay Area, and Advanced Engineering Manager for the advanced sensor catheter operations also in the Bay Area. Prior to Abbott he was responsible for global manufacturing support for Osram Sylvania’s automotive lighting group.
Kevin has been active in the lean manufacturing space for over fifteen years. He actively consults with a variety of companies, speaks at lean events including the Lean Accounting Summit, and operates two popular lean-oriented internet knowledge portals. He is a partner in GembaAcademy.com which provides lean training to over 1,000 companies. Previously Kevin served on the board of directors of the Association for Manufacturing Excellence for over ten years.
He is co-author of Evolving Excellence – Thoughts on Lean Enterprise Leadership and writes weekly on a blog of the same name. His upcoming book, Beachfront Leading – Transforming Personal and Professional Leadership will be published in May of 2012.
Kevin holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and resides in Morro Bay, California with his wife Kim.
