A couple months ago we told you about Dr. Sami Bahri, the Florida dentist that is actively embracing lean manufacturing principles.
The patient is supposed to spend as little time as possible being made to do things he or she doesn’t want to do, particularly things that don’t lead to accomplishment. "When the patient gets in the chair, we don’t want to waste any time," Bahri said. "I look at it from the patient point of view."
Our blog buddy Mark over at the Lean Blog subsequently interviewed Dr. Bahri for his lean podcast series. It’s worth a few minutes to listen to the podcast and get some real-world ideas on how lean can be used outside of manufacturing.

Thanks for the plug. Don’t sell Dr. Bahri short — from listening, you can learn a lot about applying lean in your “knuckle-dragging” manufacturing environments ;-)
Lean is about people. Dr. Bahri absolutely gets that aspect of it, so I’d encourage everyone to listen. You might be surprised that it’s more about “lean” than “healthcare.”
