This week Kevin and I have launched something of a junior companion to Evolving Excellence, called Pacific Excellence aimed at creating a lean forum for the Pacific Rim from New Zealand and Australia, to Indonesia, and on over to Singapore and Malaysia. The idea is to find and work with folks in the region who share our passion for lean and our broad view of it as a management and cultural approach to business, rather than a set of cost reduction tools.
The first blog posts were written by Pete Lambie and Brett Watson from KAON in Brisbane and we are excited to be working with them, not only on the blog but on a number of initiatives to advance the cause. As we find and get to know others like them - committed, eager and driven to advance knowledge first and profit by their own knowledge second we will be adding other voices. In creating Pacific Excellence Kevin and I were motivated by the idea that it will be helpful for the manufacturing community in that vibrant region to have a source for information with primarily local content and filled with local voices and opinions.
We are kicking ideas around with the folks from the Lean Accounting Summit and AME to harness their resources in the broader cause of advancing lean thinking in the southern Pacific area and we are excited by their response and eagerness to join forces with us.
While we would like to think that our blog posts are veritable fountains of lean wisdom, in fact the real wisdom often comes more from the comments and opinions expressed by the Evolving Excellence community. We are looking forward to the same thing on Pacific Excellence as we encourage more and more people to read what we and our partners have to say, then throw their own take on things into the fray.
We hope you take the time to check it out and, even if it is not your backyard, to stop by Pacific Excellence from time to time as we grow and evolve in this fantastic corner of the manufacturing world.
